NORTH COUNTY RECREATION ASSOCIATION
North County Recreation Association (NCRA) is a non-profit and all volunteer organization that was formed in 2003
Our focus is to provide and support Youth Sports in the north end of Cowlitz County which includes Castle Rock, Toutle, & Vader, WA. Under the umbrella of NCRA are the 3 operating Youth Sports Clubs: Baseball, Fastpitch & Soccer. The Youth Sports Complex was built with all volunteer labor and state & local grants over the last 20 years, and includes 2 Baseball fields, a Utility field, 2 Softball fields, and 2 regulation size Soccer fields. We continually try to make improvements to the facility. The 65-acre park also includes a Concession stand with Clubhouse, Batting Cages, paved Walking Trails for the Public with lighting, a Boat Launch facility on the Cowlitz River, and a Community Garden & Orchard that helps provide food for those in need. Future improvements could include an additional Utility Field, a Babe Ruth field, Basketball & Volleyball courts, a Playground, and perhaps a few RV sites.
Under Construction 2006
In 2019, again with the help of all volunteer labor and state & local grants, NCRA built a beautiful open-beam log Picnic Pavilion to provide a space for the community to hold gatherings and events. In addition to our own fundraising events the Pavilion can be used for Weddings, Concerts, Reunions, and Parties, filling a much-needed niche in the community while at the same time helping to raise crucial operating funds for the Youth Sports Complex. To date 2023, NCRA has been awarded over $1,022,166 in grants for improvements to the facilities. NCRA’s annual expenses for insurance, fertilizer, waste control, PUD, equipment & maintenance costs exceed $55,000 per year. Renting the Pavilion out for private events provides an important revenue stream for NCRA helping us keep the Youth Sports Complex running.
